I just can't wait....

To be king.....

Just kidding, just when I wrote the title "I just can't wait", the Lion King popped into my head! What I really can't wait for is to go on my mission! Each day that passes is one day closer to putting my papers in, and one day closer to leaving! Last night I had a dream that was SO REAL about me going to Denver on my mission, and just a couple of days ago I finished Preach My Gospel for the first time. I have been reading that as part of my scripture study in the morning, and WOW... best book EVER!!! This morning as I was getting ready for church, I put my EFY music on shuffle, and the song All Times, All Things, All Places came on first. Here is the first verse and chorus;

It's not in the letter, i can't wait to open.
It's not in the badge that will carry his name.
It's not gonna in just three weeks of study
Or magically come when I get on a plane,
So today I'm becoming who I'm meant to be,
The worthy unshakeable witness he needs

I have always known that I wanted to serve a mission, but this, "one day I will..." dream is now a, "in the next couple months I am going to..." dream! And I really need to start preparing! Worst thing ever would be if I am out there telling everyone that this is something I have wanted to do since I was 14, and not be prepared to actually do the work! So I started to read Preach My Gospel for the second time, I am reading the Book of Mormon daily, and I am attending the temple weekly, (but the next two weeks the Temple is going to be closed! I might just have to road trip to Idaho Falls!) I am going to take a Mission Prep class through school next semester, and through Sunday School. And a huge way I need to prepare is physically! I am doing the Biggest Winner program through my school, which is basically like the Biggest Loser show. Also next semester I am going to take a Military Fitness Class at 6:30 in the morning. I heard people leave that class able to run half marathons. (Thats not really my goal, but if I can run and not be weary, maybe I can bike all day and not be weary, which would be very helpful on my mission!) I just want to be prepared every single way for the best 18 months that are ahead of me!

I hope, they call me on a mission! [Now that] I have grown a foot or two!!!! I hope, by then I will be ready, to teach and preach and work as missionaries do!

Dyed Hair

As many of you know, my new hair color is brown... But as my dad says, I can dye my hair all I want, I will still be a blonde.

So here's a story to prove it:

I was leaving my apartment about 10 till 8 for a group project I had to go to. As I'm leaving I decided that I have been walking around campus all day and am too tired to walk some more. So I got in my car and drove to the library. (This story is even more embarrassing if you know how close I live to the library). Then I get there and stay for about an hour and a half, and then I go home. I get all the way to my apartment complex, up the stairs to my apartment, when I remembered that I drove to campus. So I turn around and walk all the way back to my car, to drive it home. AND, as I was walking back, I slipped on ice. (That part of the story wasn't the blonde in me, I just wanted some sympathy).

Craziness...

I love my roommates this semester. I have been truly blessed this semester with roommates that are great friends, and we have so much fun together! I just love them all! Its great to actually look forward to coming home after school because your apartment is so much fun!!!

I decided that I was pretty much done with school. I know, I shouldn't be saying that since I still have 6 months... but its just been killing me! I'm dying, as we speak. DYING... I can't remember why I wanted school to start so badly. I just don't have time for anything these days. During the week, I wake up at 7, start my day, and go non-stop school, work, or homework/studying, until about 10 each night. The highlights of my week are Wednesdays when I get done with classes at 3 and go to the temple. And then after that I donate plasma. On Thursdays I have my business class and I always have huge case studies to read for that class, so I do the reading whilst a needle is in my arm taking out all my plasma. But I don't mind, I get $20! And if I go one more time this month, they will put my in a drawing to get $100! Woo Hoo!!! (BTW, the highlight is the temple, not the donating of plasma, just in case that wasn't clear!)

I finished the literature review I had for my research class. It was 10 pages, and I had a partner to help, and we did it all day Saturday. We just split up what we wanted to talk about, both found 5 different articles to cite, and then we put it together and made the bibliography. I am just glad that its done. Its been an assignment since the first day of school, and a stressful one at that. I also have a test that I have to take tomorrow. I have been putting it off like crazy. I'm not a "take the test the day it closes" kind of person, but this week hasn't been a good one, and I wasn't going to take it when I was as emotional as I was. So heres to hoping I find enough time tomorrow morning to study for and take the test! I'm a little freaking out over it... I have no idea what to expect from this teachers tests, but I have heard they are the hardest part of the class! YIKES!!!

I saw the movie We Bought A Zoo yesterday! It was really really cute, and only made me cry 3 times. It just made me want to marry Matt Damon that much more, too bad he's old and already married. My roommate and I made a lot of references to Jason Bourne during that movie, and it made us laugh. We think we are funny. (We are really funny!)

Also I went on a blind date on Friday and we played the game Bigger or Better. We started with a penny, then got a little toy that moo-ed when you moved it, then spaghettios, then a big can of popcorn kernels, then a set of mini golf clubs, and then, a 20 foot Christmas Tree!!! The family gave us rope and we put the tree on his car and threw the rope around it and I held it super tight as we made our way back to the apartment. Here we were thinking nothing could beat our golf clubs, and then we get a tree that is 3 times the size of us! It was a win, for sure!!!

Well, thats all I have to say for now. Sorry I don't update the blog as much as I did the last part of last year. With no homework, I had tons of time to blog. Now, not so much. But I will try to blog about important things so nobody feels left out!

Bri's Birthday!!!

So in April of last year I met this girl named Brianna Malone...

and we became best friends.

So now we are roommates!!!

And, yesterday was her birthday! She turned 21!

So we partied!

We have so much fun together! She got off work at about 8:30 and we went out to dinner at Wingers with our other roommates Hillaree and Kaitlin, and then we came home and had cake and daiquiris! Then we just hung out until it wasn't her birthday anymore... and then we went to bed! It was the best way to end that horrible long week of school. :)

Today I'm having the hardest time getting motivated to do homework since I have all Monday to do work! I think I'm not going to do anything today and leave it all till Monday! Thats such a good plan!

THE AMBULANCE IN THE VALLEY

This is a poem I read for my Health Science class, and I just love it! I thought I would share it with everyone!

'Twas a dangerous cliff, as they freely confessed, Though to walk near its crest was so pleasant; But over its terrible edge there had slipped
A duke, and full many a peasant.

The people said something would have to be done, But their projects did not at all tally.
Some said "Put a fence 'round the edge of the cliff," Some, "An ambulance down in the valley."

The lament of the crowd was profound and was loud, As their tears overflowed with their pity;
But the cry for the ambulance carried the day
As it spread through the neighboring city.

A collection was made, to accumulate aid, And the dwellers in highway and alley
Gave dollars and cents--not to furnish a fence-- But an ambulance down in the valley.

"For the cliff is all right if you're careful," they said; "And, if folks ever slip and are dropping,
It isn't the slipping that hurts them so much
As the shock down below--when they're stopping."
So for years (we have heard), as these mishaps occurred Quick forth would the rescuers sally,

To pick up the victims who fell from the cliff, With the ambulance down in the valley.

Said one, in a plea, "It's a marvel to me
That you'd give so much greater attention
To repairing results than to curing the cause;
You had much better aim at prevention.
For the mischief, of course, should be stopped at its source; Come, neighbors and friends, let us rally.
It is far better sense to rely on a fence
Than an ambulance down in the valley."

"He is wrong in his head," the majority said,
"He would end all our earnest endeavor.
He's a man who would shirk this responsible work, But we will support it forever.
Aren't we picking up all, jut as fast as they fall, And giving them care liberally?
A superfluous fence is of no consequence
If the ambulance works in the valley."

But a sensible few, who are practical too,
Will not bear with such nonsense much longer;
They believe that prevention is better than cure,
And their party will soon be much stronger. Encourage them then, with your purse, voice and pen, And while other philanthropists dally,
They will scorn all pretense and put up a stout fence On the cliff that hangs over the valley.

Better guide well the young, than reclaim them when old, For the voice of true wisdom is calling,
"To rescue the fallen is good, but 'tis best
To prevent other people from falling."

Better close up the source of temptation and crime Than deliver from dungeon or galley

Little bit about me!

So I had to write a short letter to my teacher about me. Just to introduce myself to him... and I don't have a ton of other things to blog about, so I thought I would just put the letter up here so you can all get to know more about me too!

I was born an Air Force brat in Melbourne, Florida in 1991. Soon after that my family moved just north of Sacramento, California. Later in my life I moved to Boston Massachusetts, back to Sacramento, and finally to Phoenix, Arizona, where my father retired from the Air Force and our lives as civilians began. I was twelve years old when we moved to Arizona and went through all of Junior High School and High School there.

In my senior year of high school I worked at an Orthodontics office as a sanitizing tech. Occasionally I would be an assistant and help the doctor preform procedures. Other times I would find myself working up front, billing patients, looking up insurance information, and helping to market the company. That was when I decided that I did not want to go into the clinical side of healthcare, and I chose my major in Healthcare Administration.

I have been attending BYU-Idaho since the fall of 2009. I just completed my internship last semester at the BYU-Idaho Student Health Center where I worked as the Operations Director. I only have two more semesters until I graduate. I am currently still working at the Student Health Center, but now I am the HR manager of the office. This is a new position that has never been filled at the Health Center, but my supervisors thought that I could take on this job and hopefully bring something new and helpful to the health center.

My plans for the immediate future include serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and then returning to school to get a Masters Degree.

Thats the letter... what do you think? Did I do a good job of introducing myself to him?! In other news, I went shopping today and bought healthy. So thats cool!

First Day of School!

Today has been the best first day of school I have had in all my semesters of college! I'm going to do a quick run through of my day!!!

7:00- wake up

7:05- Studied in Preach My Gospel and in the Book of Mormon

7:40- ate breakfast.

8:00- showered and got ready for day

8:40- left apartment

9:00- went to first class, CIT380- Project Management.

10:15- went to second class, HS390- Program Planning and Implementation.

11:30- went to work and just did scanning.

2:00- went to last class, HS391- Research Methods.

3:05- got home from classes

3:10- went to the temple.

4:00- started homework

6:00- had Costa Vida (i'm going to start cooking tomorrow ;) )

6:45- watched Hulu!

7:30- did more homework (this time with our good friend Usher serenading us!)

8:30- went to gym

9:30- got home, checked facebook and blogged :D

All in all I would say it has been a fantastic day! I sure hope everyday will be as good as this one!

Happy New Years!!!

I am so excited for this new year to begin! I can't even tell everyone how much I am going to love 2012! I can just feel it! Yesterday my parents booked plane tickets and their hotel for July 20th so they can see my graduate! I always knew I was graduating this year, but when I saw my parents get the hotel, everything became more real! (Crazy side story, they went to get the Marriott in Rexburg and it was totally booked for that weekend, so they have to stay in Idaho Falls.)

So here are some of my goals for 2012:

1. Take more pictures. - I just got a camera so hopefully this won't be a hard one to do!

2. Cook more. - I got a magic bullett that I can use to prepare food in, and a crockpot, so I really shouldn't rely on Taco Bell to be my dinner each night!

3. Attend the temple more. - This semester I am actually stoked about this one because I have scheduled time in my week to attend each week. Wednesday's at 3:00 will be my temple time! I have never done this before, usually I just say I will go more often, but never stick with a time every week!!!

4. Meet more people. - This last semester during my internship I became somewhat of a hermit. I already knew the people at work, and those were the only people I ever saw, and I didn't do anything to try to meet new people. This year with my different classes and new job, I'm planning on putting myself out there and meeting more people!

5. Work out more. - Basically, I just need to go to the gym more than I did last semester! (which shouldn't be hard!)
